The causes of Motor Neurone Disease are not fully understood. However, many believe that they are caused by an autoimmune reaction to the chemicals produced within the body by certain types of neurons. There is also evidence that suggests that it may be caused by nerve damage suffered as a result of past brain injuries but there is no current definitive reason for the onset of this disease.

Motor Neurone Disease occurs when you experience the loss or paralysis of any of your voluntary muscles, such as your facial muscles. The cells in the brain, as well as the nerves stop working properly and it is not really known why this occurs. If it is left untreated, you may begin to experience seizures, hearing loss, problems with memory, and personality changes such as paranoia.

This disease causes the loss of voluntary muscle movement in both arms and legs, and even the head. Although there is no known cure for this condition, it can be managed with treatment.
